Sunny is very excited about Halloween and has been thinking a lot about which costume to choose. He finally decided on the Harry Potter costume.

Once upon a time there was a beetle who loved to tell everyone how fast he could run. “I am the fastest insect in the park,” he would say. His slow and steady friend the snail, tired of hearing him brag, challenged him to a race. “Ha,” the beetle thought to himself, “there is no way a snail could ever win against me.” On the day of the race, all of the insects in the park gathered to watch. The centipede waved a checkered flag to start the race. The beetle zoomed past the starting line as fast as he could, while the snail carefully inched herself forward bit by bit. The beetle cried out “You will never win this race at that slow, slow pace.” Out of breath from running, the beetle eventually reached a small pond of water. He thought, “I have plenty of time. I just will go around the pond.” The beetle sped off on his way. Inch by inch the snail crawled along the path. As she reached the pond, she thought, “It would be much shorter if I could somehow float across the water.” Perhaps I could build a boat. The snail gathered up some leaves, twigs and vine. She fashioned a small boat that helped her glide smoothly across the water of the pond. When she got to the other side, she hopped off the boat and could see all of her friends waiting for her at the finish line. Little by little the snail crept along the path until she crossed the finish line at long last. All of her friends cheered. “Hooray for snail!” they cried. A moment later the beetle came running across the finish line. “I can’t believe you beat me!” he said. “You know,” the snail replied with a smile, “being the fastest isn’t always everything”. “Sometimes if you just slow down for a moment and think about your challenge, you can come up with great solutions.”

It was a very special day—Rithwika’s 4th birthday! She woke up with a big smile, her eyes sparkling with excitement. Today was going to be a magical day filled with surprises! Murali and Sachu, her loving parents, had decorated the house beautifully with lots of cute kitten decorations because Rithwika absolutely loved kittens! Just then, the doorbell rang. Rithwika ran to open the door, and standing there was her best friend. Happy Birthday, Rithwika!” her friend said, hugging her. “Yay! You came!” Rithwika cheered, pulling her inside excitedly. But there was one thing Rithwika wished for the most. “I wish Grandma Smitha was here too,” she said with a little sigh. Grandma Smitha lived far away in India, and Rithwika missed her so much. Just then, another DING DONG! This time, it was a big box wrapped in a pink ribbon! It had a note that said: "For My Sweet Kitten Rithwika, with love, Grandma Smitha." Excited, she quickly opened the box. Inside was a soft, fluffy toy kitten with bright blue eyes and a tiny pink nose. “Meow!” It made a little sound when she hugged it. “Oh wow! It’s so cute! Thank you, Grandma!” Rithwika squealed with joy. Her parents turned on the laptop, and Grandma Smitha appeared on the screen, smiling warmly. “Happy Birthday, my dear Rithwika!” she said. “Do you like your gift?” “I love it, Grandma! Feeling alone and confused, she didn't want to go to school. Tears welled up in her eyes as she begged to stay home. However, as Julie slowly walked towards her classroom, she spotted something bright on the ground. It was an orange glitter ball, and she felt a sense of wonder and joy as she picked it up. Holding onto her new found treasure tightly, she entered the classroom. Throughout the morning, Julie was distracted by the ball, finding comfort in its sparkle whenever she felt lost or confused about her changing body. But during Grammar, she accidentally dropped the ball, and it rolled away where she couldn't reach it. Julie felt her heart sink, knowing she had lost her special prize.
