John Jr and Yuēhàn learned that The War of 1812 was fought by the United States and against the United Kingdom and its allies in North America. It began when the United States declared war on Britain on 18 June 1812. Although peace terms were agreed upon in the December 1814 Treaty of Ghent, the war did not officially end until the peace treaty was ratified by the United States Congress on 17 February 1815. 2. John Jr highlighted some important points about the War of 1812 to Yuēhàn. These points included: The war was fought over trade practices, territorial expansion, and British support for Tecumseh's confederacy, The British Royal Navy took American sailors from their ships and forced them to join the British Navy, The war ended in a stalemate, with no side losing territory, except for the Native Americans, The war is sometimes called the Second War of Independence, The war was a result of the wider conflict between Great Britain and France over who would dominate the world 3. The nice volunteer pick them up and takes them to Lids4Kids in Canberra. The lids are then turned into a rainbow colored park bench. The teacher surprises the children by buying the rainbow park bench for their playground.
