1: In the sparkling waters of Blue Wave Bay lived two dolphins, Spirit and Splash. Spirit was a little dolphin with a twinkle in her eye, always curious and eager to learn. Splash, her older brother, was strong, swift, and known as the best jumper in the whole bay. 2: One sunny morning, Spirit swam up to Splash. "Splash, can you teach me how to do tricks and jump like you?" she asked, her tail flipping with excitement. 3: Splash smiled and nodded. "Of course, little sister! But remember, it takes practice and patience. Let’s start with something easy—a spin!" 4: Splash leaped out of the water, twirling in the air like a silver ribbon. "Now, let's keep practicing. Soon, you'll be spinning like a star!" 6: Spirit practiced every day, twirling and spinning until she felt dizzy. With each attempt, she got better and better. Splash was always there, cheering her on. 7: One day, Splash decided it was time for the big jump. "Are you ready to leap through the rainbow waves?" he asked. Spirit felt a flutter in her belly but nodded bravely. 8: Splash demonstrated a high, graceful jump, soaring through a colorful arch of water. Spirit took a deep breath and followed. She sprang from the sea, her heart racing, and for the first time, she cleared the rainbow waves! 9: As she landed back in the water, Spirit ’s eyes sparkled with joy. "I did it, Splash! I really did it!" 10: Splash swam up beside her, proud and happy. "You did, Spirit ! You worked hard, and now you're a true jumper!" 11: From that day on, Spirit and Splash spent their days performing tricks together, spinning, leaping, and playing in the waves. Face them slowly, and you'll see that they're not as big as you think.” Nayla listened, but that didn't make much sense to her. Indeed, she went off to sleep that night without making peace with all the possibilities in her mind. In the dream, Nayla found herself in an unfamiliar and gloomy forest. Incredibly tall trees with black leaves grew above her. A cold breeze rustled; strange whispering sounds tingled along its gales. "Where am I?" Nayla whispered, clutching herself close. “Hello, hello! Is there any someone here? Nayla tried to call out some people. Poorly, nothing replied her calling. Suddenly a terrifying apparition loomed up from behind the trees. This monster had a smoky black body, glowing red eyes, and rumbled voice able to make ground tremble. "Wahhahaha! At last, I've found my little Nayla!" the monster roared.

When they are feeling overwhelmed by big emotions they should tell an adult they need a break, how we can help them or what is making them feel that way. We want to help them understand their feeling so that they will be able to learn to self-regulate. We encourage deep breathing, breaks, walks, alone time and telling adults how they feel.

There was fruit, pancakes, and waffles galore, oatmeal, juice, milk, and much, much more. On his plate, he piled up the fruit so sweet, and a bowl of marshmallow cereal, a sugary treat. But Sere, oh dear, started to play, with his food, not eating it right away. In his hands, a muffin and melon so cool, in his imagination, he was nobody's fool. "So we meet again, Dr. Cavity," he declared, as into his daydream, he boldly dared. As Super Sere, with a cape so grand, he'd save kids from unhealthy food in the land. Mangoes gave him X-ray vision so keen, to see through the sugar that Dr. Cavity would scheme. Oranges, strawberries, and kiwi so bright, brought vitamin C to heal, with all their might. Berries, for speed to defeat Dr. Cavity's fuss, against sugar-filled cereals, and foods so unjust. But back in the real world, he heard a call, "The bus is here!" – it was time to enthrall. He grabbed an orange, berries in a dash, and off to the bus, he'd quickly flash. Energized and eager, for the day ahead, his lunch bag adventures, no one could dread. For Sere was a hero, fighting the good fight, making healthy choices, morning and night. The end of this tale, with lessons quite clear, choose healthy foods, have no fear. Be a superhero, just like Sere, and your body and mind will always be in the clear”

The true abolition of slavery was achieved when the Thirteenth Amendment was ratified on December 6, 1865. The first section of the Amendment declares: “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.” The Amendment is unique in the Constitution because it bars every person from holding slaves or engaging in other forms of involuntary servitude, whereas most constitutional provisions only constrain or regulate the government. It is unique in another way as well: although the Constitution obliquely acknowledged and accommodated slavery in its original text, the Thirteenth Amendment was the first explicit mention of slavery in the Constitution.
